Šli jsme že Závisti po žluté až do Pivoně (tam mají moc zajímavý starý hřbitov), pak kousek po zelené a za Vranovem po červené výrazným stoupáním až na Herštejn. Opravená věž, na vyhlídce nové přehledné popisky. V okolí hluboké voňavé lesy, pásmo, které se neudržuje. Dále po červené se dojde zpět na parkoviště za Závistí. Nelze vynechat (bohužel nefotogenický) pramen Radbuzy. Great walk even in winter. We went that the Envy along the yellow road to Pivona (there they have a very interesting old cemetery), then a short distance along the green and behind Vranov along the red road with a significant ascent to Herštejn. The (unfortunately non-photogenic) source of Radbuza cannot be omitted.
B	Bohumila Havlovicova on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vcelku náročná cesta ze sedla, kde se da pohodlně zaparkovat, posedět, opect buřty a od 1.6-31.10.2021 vyzvednout ceske a nemecke pokyny k nalezeni pokladu. Cesta je plna obrovskych kamenu, polamanych větví. Neni vhodna pro kocarky a pohybově indisponovane. Rohledna je krasna a je z ni uzasny vyhled. M	MARTIN JANIUREK on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Starý Herštejn stojí na jednom z kopců v Českém lese uvnitř přírodní rezervace Starý Hirštejn. Z hradu se dochovaly zbytky valu a příkopů, které dříve chránily předhradí. První písemná zmínka o hradu pochází z roku 1272. Hrad krátce vlastnil i král Jan Lucemburský než jej roku 1331 prodal pražskému biskupovi Janu IV. z Dražic, který vlastnil také Horšovský Týn. Tento rok (2020) byla dokončena rekonstrukce věže - rozhledny ze které je za dobrého počasí nádherný výhled do okolí. Z parkoviště je rozhledna vzdálena cca 1.5 km mírně obtížným terénem ale rozhodně stojí za návštěvu. Starý Herštejn stands on one of the hills in the Bohemian Forest inside the Starý Hirštejn nature reserve. Remains of a rampart and moats, which used to protect the fort, have been preserved from the castle. The first written mention of the castle dates from 1272. The castle was briefly owned by King John of Luxembourg before it was sold in 1331 to the Bishop of Prague, John IV. from Dražice, who also owned Horšovský Týn. This year (2020) the reconstruction of the tower was completed - a lookout tower from which there is a wonderful view of the surroundings in good weather. From the parking lot, the lookout tower is about 1.5 km away in slightly difficult terrain, but it is definitely worth a visit.

A nice walk up the hill, where there is now one repaired tower. There is still a lot of work to be done for volunteers. There was a children's competition in Czech and German.

M	Martin Blass on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great view of the whole "Czech forest" ridgeline. You can easily see the towers at Čerchov and Velký Zvon. I would say it is a great spot for picknics etc.
