★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Na kameni je zřetelně vidět kam ten Lucifer šlápnul a kam otiskl svoje kopyto. Na ceduli je popsaná pověst jak se vsadil s farářem že donese kámen dříve než on odslouží mši. Farář byl ale filuta, pospíšil si a s posledními slovy viděl,že čert nestíhá. A proto ten kámen leží u cesty a ne na faře.
The stone clearly shows where Lucifer stepped and where he imprinted his hoof. The sign describes the rumor as betting with the pastor that he will bring the stone before he serves Mass. But the pastor was a filut, he hurried and saw with the last words that the devil could not catch up. And that's why the stone lies by the road and not in the parish.

The stone, where there is a hollow resembling a devil's hoof, the notice board next to it tells a story, visiting this place can be connected with Slepičí vršek (sand dune).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Čert se jmenoval Zardan a nesl kamenný sloup z Říma do Prahy na Vyšehrad. Vsadil se, že tam bude dřív, než kněz doslouží mši. V Benátkách se zdržel, když spadl do moře. A v Novosedlech odpočíval, zůstala tady po něm šlápota kozlí a býčí. Sázku prohrál.
Devil was called Zardan and carried a stone column from Rome to Prague at Vyšehrad. He bet he would be there before the priest was celebrating mass. He stayed in Venice when he fell into the sea. And in Novosedly, he rested, leaving a footman of a goat and a bull. He lost the bet.

Super undemanding bike trip for a piece of local history, the game preserve opposite is simply beautiful. Riding on a good path, around, smaller ponds.

I'm local, so sometimes we take a bike trip around Devil's Footsteps. A pleasant ride ends with refreshments at the camp in Lužnice.
