Well at first the train got delayed by 35 minutes. Then 70 minutes. Then 80. Then 90. Then 110. Then 120. Yet no answers or announcements from the staff about what’s happening. Then they silently changed it from a train to bus without any announcement. When asked, the staff said they have no idea when the bus will come. Bonus points: the toilets are locked up after a certain time, so you know they really go all out to ensure maximum comfort of their passengers.

Train is now a faster and much more comfortable way to reach Prague. That can't be said of other directions such as Český Krumlov or Linz, unfortunately. The platforms are new, but the historical station building really needs a refresh. Access to the public transportation across the street is not very direct. There are a couple convenience stores, fast food outlets and one very run down station restaurant / pub, accessible from the street or maze of corridors to the left of the departures board.

As the gentleman here mentioned, the platforms have been redone many years ago but now and after a very long wait, the main historical building of the train station will have its former beauty restored + finally. It'll take 2yrs to complete the project with 20€+ million price tag. The surroundings as well will be more pedestrian centric. The main bus station just across has many venues as its a shopping centre and the busses drive up to the rooftop. Update Jan2022 Hads up if you are travelling from/to/via České Budějovice by train. The main historical building from 1908 is finally being renovated. The exteriors and interiors are going through extensive work, however the train station is fully operational (with the following limitations stated below that may cause some minor inconvenience). Reporting as seen in late December, 2021) - The work began 07/2021 and project should be completed by the end of 2022 - The building's main entty hall (seen covered in pic with orange banner). The ticket office and departure board open with access to all platforms. - The entire right wing is closed off, so no benches, shops, bagage/storage, etc. However Mercury shopping center a 3min walk across the street. - All platforms renovations are complete, open & with elevators. - Due to the lack of seating, use the main entry hall to check your train and go to the platforms or go to the shopping center instead (open daily from 5.00 to 23.00) Have a safe trip...

Inside, of course, a little dirty and well-groomed. And outside around the crowd of homeless. At the entrance, the impression is not really well. But on the platform, you forget about this things and get on a comfortable European train. by the way, there is security inside the building, which does not allow these homeless people to be inside

This is soo beautiful and clean and well maintained. I appreciate the presence of many shops and Cafés here. At 6 am you will find everything you need. This is a great place. People need more places like this and I really enjoyed every moment here. Hugs

Great to hear that this station will get an upgrade, it is really needed. You can see how this was once a beautiful station long ago, but it is in a world of hurt right now. Look forward to coming back and seeing the new look.
