V roce 1726 byl gotický kostel stržen a na jeho místě roku 1734 postaven nový vrcholně barokní kostel podle projektu plzeňského stavitele Jakuba Augustona. Kostel je založen na centrálním oválném půdorysu a je opatřen čtyřmi vchody (z každé světové strany jedním). The original Gothic church of St. Vitus was built in the middle of the 13th century. In 1726, the Gothic church was demolished and in its place in 1734 a new High Baroque church was built according to the project of the Pilsen builder Jakub Auguston. The church is based on a central oval floor plan and has four entrances (one on each side of the world).

J	Jan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Westlich gegenüber der Pfarrkirche ST. Nikolaus steht außerhalb des zentralen Platzes die kleine St. Veitskirche (Kostel svatého Víta). Der barocke Rundbau wurde in der Zeit von 1727 bis 1734 durch Jakob Auguston d. J. errichtet, der Doppelaltar wurde von Mathias Wenzel Jäckel geschnitzt. Der 11 m hohe Glockenturm mit Kreuz auf dem Dach stammt aus dem Jahre 1865, das Bauwerk wurde zwischen 1995 und 1999 restauriert. Absolutes Highlight, nicht nur dieser Kirche sondern der gesamten Stadt, ist aber dieser imposante Altar in der Mitte der Rotunde mit seinen kunstvollen Schnitzereien. Da es hier auch die Möglichkeit gibt, über Treppen auf die Empore zu gelangen, kann man sich diese wundervollen Schnitzereien aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln und zum Teil ganz nah anschauen. Eintrittskarten gibt es gleich nebenan im Städtischen Kultur- und Informations-Zentrum Dobrzan (Městské kulturní a informační středisko Dobřany); Eintritt: 20 CZK. West of the parish church ST. Nicholas stands outside the central square, the small St. Vitus Church (Kostel svatého Víta). The baroque rotunda was built between 1727 and 1734 by Jakob Auguston the Elder. J., the double altar was carved by Mathias Wenzel Jäckel. The 11 m high bell tower with cross on the roof dates from 1865, the building was restored between 1995 and 1999. The absolute highlight, not only of this church but of the entire city, but is this imposing altar in the middle of the rotunda with its ornate carvings. Since there is also the possibility to get on stairs to the gallery, you can see these wonderful carvings from different angles and sometimes very close. Tickets are available right next door in the Municipal Cultural and Information Center Dobrzan (Městské kulturní a informační středisko Dobřany); Admission: 20 CZK.

Also the sculptures represent good level of art, what cannot be said about rather failed paintings. I'm not sure whether frescoes represent skills of 18th century painter or modern renovation. Great that the church can be visited with the help of local tourist information.
