The first written mention of Tuřany dates back to 1115 when the Kladruby monastery had some commodities here. In the second half of the 14th century the secular owners also appeared besides the Order of the Church. The Gothic pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in 1352 - it is also mentioned in connection with the activity of the Kladruby Monastery and was already a parish at that time. The interior is decorated with a wooden statue of Virgin Mary of Tuřany. It was refurbished in the 18th century in the Baroque style and later rebuilt at the end of the 20th century. The Tuřan wooden belfry, standing in the cemetery by the pilgrimage church, was built in 1717. The bell tower was financed by the Smečno authorities. The first documents on the purchase of the material on the future bell tower date back to 1663, but documents mentioning building itself dating from 1666. The bell tower hangs 4 bells, the oldest of which dates from 1678. It is a protected cultural monument.
