Do vzhledu stavby významně zasáhlo baroko. V letech 1770–1773 nahradila dřevěnou část zvonice masivní jižní věž, jejímž stavitelem byl P. Losch. The Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary is one of the architectural treasures of Žatec and forms a beautiful dominant of the ancient city center. You can find it on Hošťálkovo náměstí, behind the Town Hall, near the Kněžská Gate. Original Romanesque parish church (a part of the settlement of the prehistoric castle) stood formerly on the site of today's church, and is first mentioned in 1004 (the first documented reports date back to 1206). In 1336 Jan Lucemburský gave the city money for the rebuilding of the church, and in the years 1336-1380 a Gothic building was born here. In 1380 the foundations of the bell tower were laid. The appearance of the building was significantly affected by the baroque. In the years 1770-1773, the wooden part of the bell tower were replaced the massive southern tower, which was built by P. Losch.

Chtělo by to trochu renovovat aby české památky vydrželi i pro další generace jinak je to nádherná památka.
It would like to renovate it a bit so that the Czech monuments will last for future generations, otherwise it is a beautiful monument.

Beautiful church right on the square, around a lot of baroque statues, but they would need to renovate. damage. that the church is not accessible outside the worship service.

Dominantou žateckého Hošťálkova, Žižkova a náměstí Svonody(jsou v podstatě spojená do jednoho protahleho celku) je bezesporu chrám Nanebevzetí Panny Marie. Románský kostel byl několikrát přestavovan až do současné barokní podoby.Z této doby také pochází dvojice hranolových věží a mohutná jižní věž postavená na místě starší zvonice.
The dominant feature of the Žatec Hošťálkova, Žižkov and Svonody squares (which are basically connected to one single whole) is undoubtedly the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The Romanesque church was rebuilt several times until the present Baroque appearance. At this time, a pair of prismatic towers and a massive southern tower built on the site of an older bell tower come from this period.
