The whole school complex, including the botanical garden, is an interesting architectural-landscaping complex. The school was established on 17 February 1866 as the first Czech school of it´s type in Austria-Hungary. In 1900 this institute was promoted to the Royal Czech Academy of Economics with a university organization and it was the highest Czech agricultural school until 1906. After its establishment in 1866 the school was located in the so-called "Klavíkovská homestead", which stood opposite today's school across the street. However, the premises ceased to satisfy the needs soon, and since 1876 a new building has been sought. So it was decided about the new construction in 1902. The school was built according to the project of the provincial engineer Karel Pokorný from Prague. The façades are decorated in Neo-Renaissance style with Art Nouveau elements according to the design of the architect Alois Čenský. Stucco decoration was made by sculptor Josef Pekárek. The length of the main façade is 58.2 m, the side wings are 36.3 m, the height of the building from the sidewalk to the main ledge is 17.9 m. The school object is built in neo-renaissance style, the stucco decoration on the main façade is influenced by Art Nouveau.
