Vavřince se nachází unikátní žulový Památník kostky cukru jako vzpomínka na převratnou událost , kdy ve zdejší rafinerii byla v roce 1843 panem Radem vyrobena první kostka cukru na světě . Doporučujeme navštívit Městské muzeum a galerii v Dačicích , kde je možné shlédnout stálou expozici věnovanou výrobě dačické kostky cukru a cukrovaru v Kostelním Vydří . V blízkosti památníku se nachází i barokní zámek ke kterému přiléhá anglický park .
 Under the church of St. Vavřince is a unique granite Sugar Cube Memorial as a reminder of the revolutionary event when the first sugar cube in the world was made in 1843 by Mr. Rad at the local refinery. We recommend visiting the Municipal Museum and Gallery in Dačice, where it is possible to see a permanent exhibition dedicated to the production of the Dačice sugar cube and the sugar factory in Kostelní Vydří. Near the monument there is also a baroque castle, which is adjacent to the English park.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Město první kostky cukru, pěkného zámku a velkého provozu. Památník kostky cukru asi 100 od zámku u kostela. Zámek opravdu stojí za návštěvu. Mám se prohlídka líbila.
The city's first sugar cubes, a nice castle and a lot of traffic. A monument of sugar cubes about 100 from the castle near the church. The castle is really worth a visit. I have enjoyed the tour.
