The Dean's Church in Prachatice is connected with the Hussite wars and the military leader Jan Žižka. He marched on Prachatice and ordered, when the city opens its gates, it leaves the population alone. When the townspeople laughed at him (in anticipation, of course, victory behind the massive city walls), Žižka attacked without mercy. He fired several cannonballs (one bullet remained in the city gate as a souvenir), but then attacked the walls with ladders and hooks. Defenders poured hot tar and boiling water on the Hussites. The Hussite archers hit several defenders with a bullet, and then the other defenders hid behind the walls, and the Hussites managed to conquer the walls in a few minutes. The subjugation of the town was then clear, Žižka drove all the men to the Dean's Church, and drove the women and children out of the town. He then ordered the barrels of tar to be rolled up into the church and set on fire. All the men were burned alive. This is evidenced by the charred church door from that time.

Very nice church and view from its tower. Admission is 30 CZK for adult. Roof truss is all that wood. Under the roof, bats are hiding, which is a diversification of the tour. On the way to the highest part of the tower, there are 151 stone and wooden stairs.
