Doksy

Picturesque railway station. Typical railway station from the times of Austria - Hungary. After overhaul. In front of the entrance to the station is a public parking lot - 12 places. There is also a still functioning railway station restaurant. The station is the starting point for visiting Macha Lake - about 1.5 km from the station.

At first glance, a beautiful railway station, and at second glance, you will notice the golden sign "The most beautiful railway station 2017" at the platform. In 2006, it underwent reconstruction together with the entire line. Travelers and vagrants will certainly appreciate the possibility of using a clean toilet for 5 CZK (keys at the counter of the personal cash register). The so-called count's waiting room, which served the Wallenstein family, can also be seen at the railway station. They significantly contributed to the fact that the new railway line from Bakov to Česká Lípa led through Doksy. In the waiting room, on both opposite walls, there are paintings of the Great Pond and the chateau by the Prague painter Hugo Ullik from 1869. You can request the key from the waiting room from the head of the station. At first glance, you will notice the beautiful railway station, and at the second look you will find the golden sign "The Most Beautiful Train Station of 2017" at the platform. In 2006, along with the entire track, the station underwent a huge reconstruction. Travelers and Riders will certainly appreciate the possibility of using a clean toilet for CZK 5 (the keys at the cash desk counter). There is also a so-called Count Waiting House at the Train station, which served to the Waldstein family. They have greatly deserved that the new railway line from Bakov to Česká Lípa led through Doksy. The key from the waiting room can be requested by the head of the station.

The office closes at about 5 am, but when you arrive at half past four, they are already closed. If you want to pee? You have to go to the station wannabe restaurant, rather a pajzle, where you pay 5, - for you to be almost afraid to sit on the cutting board. Toilet paper? Should 1x 2x daily. And as a bonus, you will make other guests at the joke bar when you try to unlock the first door, which, by the way, is not locked but is wearing a sign saying you have to ask for a key. Okay, I take, maybe I'm just stupid, but this is really too much.

I would like to take this opportunity (besides the contact form) to thank two Czech Railways employees on behalf of the whole group of Czech students who were moving from Doksy back to Brno on 1 May. Halfway up the train (R 1105) to Cologne, we found that we probably forgot Mácha's May in German on a bench near the Doksy railway station. We explained the situation to the conductor and he helped us very willingly: he immediately called the lady who was just in Doksy behind the counter (I hope you will come across this message sometimes;)) and she ran out looking for a book. As soon as she found her, she called the conductor back and he gave it to me on the phone. The lady was very pleasant and offered to send it to us - even though the book was not in a place that would fall under ČD - to Brno (it would be up to us to pay back the postage). We dictated the address and phone number to her and the stone fell from our hearts. It was a very pleasant experience for us, a nice ending to our Machovian wanderings, and both employees are grateful for their extraordinary helpfulness !! :)

The station is nice, even in 2017 it was chosen as the most beautiful. Don't forget to see what they don't have elsewhere: Countess Waiting Room. (Ask for entry at the box office.) You will see two beautiful pictures, you will learn something about the history of this place. Finally, you may find it strange that no place other than this waiting room was found to accommodate the gas heater, including the yellow pipes.

Nice and clean train station can be found here and kiosk at early risers and who would be thirsty so there is a restaurant (pub) with the sign Březňak. The building is beautiful and clean and the path from here is also passable.
