Velmi působivý pohled na celý komplex je z protějšího nábřeží slepého ramene Malše. Objekt školy byl vybudován mezi lety 1902 - 1903 na místě ubouraného solného skladu, části městských hradeb a některých budov kláštera. Stavbu realizovaly místní firmy Hauptvogl a Stabernak. Nejdříve zde sídlilo německé a od roku 1923 české gymnázium, později dvanáctiletka, pak základní škola a po roce 1981 opět gymnázium. Zajímavá je i krásně zrekonstruovaná kruhová bašta u gymnázia patřící k obrannému systému města. The Gymnasium building with it´s impressive dimensions is somewhat fifferent from the Old Town housing development, but it is nicely complemented by a Dominican monastery and a church on the Piarist Square. A very impressive view of the entire complex is from the opposite embankment of Malše's blind arm. The school building was built between 1902 and 1903 on the site of a demolished salt warehouse, part of the town walls and some monastery buildings. The construction was carried out by local firms Hauptvogl and Stabernak. At first there was German and from 1923 Czech grammar school here, later 12-years-school, then primary school and then a grammar school again after 1981. Interesting & beautifully reconstructed circular bastion near the grammar school belonging to the city's defense system and is also worth a visit. It is accessible only via the courtyard from Czech street. The grammar school building with impressive dimensions is a bit out of place in the old town, but it beautifully complements the Dominican monastery and the church on Piarist Square.
