Hard lookout

Beautiful and historic lookout tower. When we went there, the lookout tower was supposed to be open, but it was locked. But you can get to the lookout tower thanks to the keys that you get at the nearby police station, where they will lend them to you without any problems, it's even written on the board. To the lookout tower itself, there is not a very big and good view, and that disappointed me ?. The surroundings are nice. There is a park under the lookout tower that he might want to modify a bit, as there are nettles across the road and people can get burned. In conclusion: the lookout tower itself is beautiful and has an interesting history. On the other hand, it does not have a good view, you will see almost nothing. But as a walk or a trip, I highly recommend it.

The Hard lookout tower is located in the Sokolovská basin above the cemetery in Hornická street in Sokolov at an altitude of 461 m.n.m. At the site of the lookout tower stood a lookout gloriot called the Powder Tower. However, it fell into disrepair, so the local beauty association had the gloriot rebuilt. The construction was completed in October 1907. However, the wooden superstructure did not last long, fell into disrepair and was removed at the beginning of 30 years. In 1933, the lookout tower was rebuilt into an architectural memorial to the victims of World War I. A reverential hall was built on the ground floor, and a five-meter-high statue of Christ in a flowing robe became the dominant feature of the hexagonal architecture. The statue was made of copper sheet. At the end of World War II, the Third Reich struggled, among other things, with a lack of metals for the armaments industry, and so a statue of Christ made of copper sheet became a victim. The base of the lookout tower fell into disrepair after the war in the 1950s. In 1999, the councilor and designer Martin Volný initiated the restoration of the lookout tower. Subsequently, according to his plans, repairs were started in 2000, and after the completion of the base, a superstructure was added to the brick building and a new steel staircase inside. The grand opening took place on April 26, 2001. Nice little lookout tower.

Beautiful lookout tower near the center in the highest part of Sokolov. It's a pity that it's normally closed (I'm not surprised. It would soon be damaged) and for the keys to the city office.

We borrowed the keys from the police and went upstairs. Very nicely renovated. You can park directly under the lookout tower!
