★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gotický hrad byl založen v druhé polovině 14 století Jindřichem z Rožmberka jako součást městského opevnění. Sloužil jako sídlo purkrabího a v průběhu husitských válek byl dvakrát vypálen. V 17 století byl upraven na sýpku, později na pivovar. V současné době je v jižním křídle městská knihovna a v severním křídle kulturní dům. Neodpustím si osobní názor na přístavbu schodiště do knihovny. Spojení historické stavby s moderní železo-skleněnou přístavbou se mi zdá poněkud nevhodné. Vnitřní prostory moderně upravené ano, ale narušit historickou stavbu ne.
 The Gothic castle was founded in the second half of the 14th century by Henry of Rosenberg as part of the city fortifications. It served as the burgrave's residence and was burned down twice during the Hussite wars. In the 17th century it was converted into a granary, later into a brewery. At present, there is a city library in the south wing and a cultural house in the north wing. I will not forgive my personal opinion about adding a staircase to the library. The combination of a historic building with a modern iron-glass extension seems to me to be somewhat inappropriate. Interiors modernly modified yes, but not to disrupt the historic building.
