Jedná se o louku o velikosti okolo pěti hektarů nad levým břehem Brněnské přehrady v komplexu přírodního parku Podkomorské lesy.Na protější straně přehrady se nachází hrad Veveří a další přírodní památka Kůlny.
Důvodem ochrany je bohatá květena a zejména častý výskyt hořce křížatého, který je v Česku velmi ohroženým druhem.
Přírodní památkou prochází žlutě značená turistická trasa a cyklistická trasa č. 5219.
Junácká louka is a natural monument located in the district of Brno-město, cadastral area Kníničky. It is a meadow about five hectares above the left bank of the Brno dam in the complex of the Podkomorské lesy nature park. On the opposite side of the dam there is the Veveří castle and another natural monument Kůlny.
The reason for protection is the rich flora and especially the frequent occurrence of gentian, which is a very endangered species in the Czech Republic.
The yellow marked hiking trail and cycling route No. 5219 pass through the natural monument.
