Pochází z roku 1378, 1665 podlehla požáru, ale byla obnovena v 18.století jako vodojem pro kašnu na náměstí. This originally Gothic observation tower is the only surviving remains of fortifications. It dates from 1378, 1665 succumbed to a fire, but was restored in the 18th century as a fountain for the fountain in the square.

Někdejší Staré město se nacházelo v prostoru dnešního náměstí Jana z Dražic a Poděbradovy ulice. Původně kolem něj stála dřevěná hradba, zděnou hradbu s městskými branami nechal vystavět pravděpodobně arcibiskup Arnošt z Pardubic v 2. polovině 14. století. Jako součást opevňování byla na vyvýšeném místě postavena i gotická pozorovací a ohlašovací věž, dnešní Hláska. Do 2. poloviny 17. století nebyla nikdy poškozena s výjimkou roku 1665, kdy byla při velkém požáru města téměř zničena. V 18. století byla rekonstruována a upravena pro nový účel. The old town was located in the present-day Jana z Drazic square and Poděbradova street. Originally, it was enclosed by wooden walls. It was Jan Ocko of Vlašim who had solid stone walls with town gates built in 1378. As part of this fortification, a Gothic tower, today's Hlaska, was built on a heightened place to serve its observation and warning roles. Until the second half of the 17th century, it was not in any way damaged, with the exception of 1665 when it was almost destroyed during a great fire in the town. It was reconstructed in the 18th century and modified for its new purpose A water reservoir for the fountain on the Horse market, which is now Hus square, was placed here.
