Krásný malý kostelik, když se poštěstí lze nahlédnout i dovnitř.
Beautiful little church, when luckily you can look inside.

V letech 1838–42 proběhla velká rekonstrukce v romantickém stylu, kdy byly mimo jiné do dnešní podoby dostavěny kruchta a věž. The Gothic church stands on Toulovec (formerly Špitálský) square, probably the longest settled part of the town. Already in 1347 there is mentioned the town hospital, which first appeared to be a chapel, later the Church of the Assignment of St. Apostles, mentioned for the first time in 1407, when the important Litomyšl burgher Vavřinec Toulovec financially secured the hospital. According to the legend, he is buried in the church. It is the oldest sacred building in the city. It was destroyed several times (during the Hussite wars and during the Thirty Years War), burned several times, and was subsequently repaired (especially in 1705, 1735, 1775 and 1814). In 1838-42 there was a great reconstruction in a romantic style. The hospital building was demolished after 1945. To the left of the church is a beautiful neo-gothic building from 1865, today the choir of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, and behind it the house of M. D. Rettigová.

The beautiful church stands in the middle of Toulcova Square and would seem to be too modest and unassuming compared to the temples nearby. Nevertheless, its beauty attracts, the originally Gothic church has stood here since the 14th century and was part of the hospital, which was richly presented by Vavřinec Toulovec from Třemošná, after which the whole square is named.
