Baroque church of St. George in Bečov was built in 1767 after a fire in the town, when the old church also burned down.

Jiří byl postaven v letech 1763-1767 zednickým mistrem Franzem Pöpperlem na místě zničeného gotického kostela na skalnatém návrší nad náměstím uprostřed města Bečov nad Teplou (Petschau). Roku 1834 byl kostel modernizován. Teprve v roce 1885 byla poté toužimským stavitelem Johannem Schobertem vystavěna věž kostela. Po roce 1945 však přestal být kostel udržován a postupně chátral. Od počátku 21. století probíhá postupná rekonstrukce zchátralého kostela.
The beautiful late Baroque parish church of St. Jiří was built in 1763-1767 by mason master Franz Pöpperle on the site of a ruined Gothic church on a rocky hill above the square in the center of Bečov nad Teplou (Petschau). In 1834 the church was modernized. It was only in 1885 that the tower of Johann Schobert was built by the church tower. After 1945, however, the church ceased to be maintained and gradually dilapidated. Since the beginning of the 21st century a gradual reconstruction of the dilapidated church took place.
