Tento barokní chrám vznikl přestavbou původního gotického kostela, vysvěcen byl zřejmě roku 1251. Z původní raně gotické výstavby se dochovalo obvodové zdivo a klenba v závěru presbytáře. Do současné raně barokní podoby byl kostel přestavěn v letech 1673–1686 dle návrhu G. P. Tencally.
Jednolodní sálová stavba s postranními kaplemi má bohatou sochařskou a malířskou výzdobu a je ukázkou barokního působení na smysly věřících. Průčelí kostela zdobí sochy Salvátora a Panny Marie od Ondřeje Zahnera z 30. let 18. století.K budově kostela přiléhá gotický ambit zaklenutý křížovou klenbou a gotická kaple sv. Alexeje.

 Trinity dome of the baroque church of st. Michael is one of the distinctive landmarks of the city.
This Baroque church was created by the reconstruction of the original Gothic church, it was probably consecrated in 1251. From the original early Gothic building, the perimeter walls and vaults at the end of the presbytery have been preserved. The church was rebuilt to its present early Baroque style in 1673–1686 according to a design by G. P. Tencally.
The single-nave hall building with side chapels has a rich sculptural and painting decoration and is an example of Baroque influence on the senses of believers. The façade of the church is decorated with the sculptures of Salvator and Virgin Mary by Ondřej Zahner from the 1830s. Alexei.
