The first written record dates from 1352 and concerns the nearby church of St. Martin, around which a medieval village stood. It was later moved to the site of today's Kozojedy due to sources of drinking water. At the end of the 1st millennium, the Kozojedy was the territory of the Slavic tribe of Zličany, whose ruling tribe of Slavníkovci was killed by the Prague prince Boleslav II. in 995. Thus, the village came under the administration of the Přemyslids, but it also changed several times in the following centuries. In 1831, Prince John of Lichtenstein built a new school in the village, which served until 1962 and is currently the seat of the municipal office. The largest construction took place in Kozojedy in the 1970s. Today there live around 800 inhabitants here.
Interesting fact: It is not always appropriate (and sometimes totally wrong) to judge the meaning of names in case the names of ancient sites with using the current form of the Czech language. Old Czech (ancient Boihemian language) was quite different. But here, however, we can get a picture of the preferences of the composition of our ancestors´menu. Kozojedy means the goateaters. To my great surprise, in the maps I discovered two neighboring villages named Masojedy and Konojedy (meateaters and horseeaters). But I admit it's just my guess.
