Území Krňan bylo pravděpodobně osídleno již v prvním tisíciletí př.n.l. Podél Vltavy se tudy k jihu ubíral lid Knovízské kultury. Z doby kolem roku 400 př.n.l. pocházejí archeologicky doložené nálezy střepů a rýžoviště zlata pod Rakousy svědčící o stradonické kultuře Keltů se sídlištěm (opidem) u Hostěradic. Keltského původu je i pojmenování obce – Krnian. Později se zde usídlili staří Slované, kteří dali název Třebsínu – místu, kde pravděpodobně probíhala obětování pohanským bohům. Trebiti znamená staroslovansky obětovati. The Krňany area was probably inhabited in the first millennium BC. Along the Vltava River, the people of Knovíz culture went down to the south. From about 400 BC. archeologically documented findings of shards and gold trenches under Rakousy indicate the Stradonic Celtic culture with the settlement (opidum) at Hostěradice. Celtic origin is also printed in the name of the village - Krnian. Later, the old Slavics settled here, who named Třebsina - a place where sacrifices were probably given to pagan gods.
