★ ★ ★ ★ ★ TL;DR - Waiter told my friend to eat her food from a dog-bowl on the floor!
I've gone to La Gare many times - until now, it has always been nothing short of amazing. Yesterday's visit, though, was possibly the most shocking display of disgusting service I have ever seen.
My friends and I ordered a mix of dishes, amongst which were the Miso and Bouillabaisse mussels. The service was very good until the very end of the meal. As is common in certain asian cultures (ie. Japan - where miso originates), my friend raised the plate to her mouth to drink the broth left in the plate. While we noticed the waiter looking sideways at us, we didn't pay it much attention (after all, we are in Europe, not Japan).
That being said, I was ABSOLUTELY disgusted when the waiter brought my friend a dog bowl, suggesting she might be more comfortable eating her food from it, on the floor. As if that wasn't enough, when he returned to clear the plates (and after we all explicitly told him we were done eating), he asked my fried if "she was sure [she was done]), seemingly implying she should lick the plate (?). The real cherry on top was the audible scoff when we declined to tip (he asked). I couldn't hear exactly what he said, but it was in the spirit of "ugh, of course".
Food was great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect food, atmosphere, waiter and sommelier, but very rude guy provided payment for our table and insisted on tips! We were ready to pay the tips without his rude words. Thanks for polite waiter my husband decided to pay 10%. But wished not to because of this arrogant guy who made our evening unpleasant. We will never come back and not recommend this place to our friends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here with some friends, one of them who is from Prague and said that he loved this restaurant. Everything was going well until the waiter started being very rude to us and even brought a dog plate to my friend because she was drinking the sauce from her mussels. I have never experienced such a rude gesture in my life and I am still shocked about it. Even if drinking from the plate may not have been the best thing to do, we were all right with it and the waiter had no right of being this rude and treating my friend like a dog, literally. The waiter then even dared to ask for a tip (we obviously said no) and he did not even apologize. You should not waste your time going to this restaurant as the experience was not enjoyable at all. There are probably many more better restaurants than this one around the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a simple dinner. Visited this only because it was near our hotel, and we needed to get a concert. What a surprise. This was excellent. Great service and excellent food. Beef ribs and shrimp, sides of fries and grilled bread, for dessert Crème Brule. All top-of-the-line dishes. Wine menu was small but excellent for the food menu, great pairings. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Wish we could have enjoyed more of the menu, but we will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are lots of great restaurants in Prague but this is one of the best. Strangely their simple salad is the best i’ve had in the city. Salad’s are hard for Czechs but this one rocks. Fresh great ingredients the right dressing. The bacon tartine is essentially the best pizza in town. And everything on the menu is delicious but not so delicate that you can’t go here regularly. Awesome place!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mixed feelings after the visit, but overall nothing gave us a reason to try it again. Food-wise - oysters were nice, snails really good, main courses - coq au vin and duck breasts with oranges were a letdown. Service on a slower side with mistakes, tables cramped to the level they might have as well sit us at the same table

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A delightful break from traditional Czech cuisine. This place punches above its weight with quality, service, value, and ambiance. I had the Duck Breast and she had the 1/2 Chicken that she raved about, and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. Highly recommended.
