★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hlavním prvkem památníku je sovětský tank, který jako první vjel při osvobozování 30. dubna 1945 na území Ostravy. Tank stojí na podstavci, na jeho bocích jsou dvě plastiky - jedna představuje Vítězství, druhá vzdává Hold Rudé armádě.
Památník vznikl v letech 1947-48, na tomto místě však stojí až od roku 1980. Z původního místa u mostu Pionýrů byl přestěhován po výbuchu, který most zničil.
The main element of the monument is a Soviet tank, which was the first to enter the territory of Ostrava during the liberation on April 30, 1945. The tank stands on a pedestal, on its sides are two sculptures - one represents Victory, the other pays tribute to the Red Army.
The memorial was erected in 1947-48, but it has only stood on this site since 1980. It was moved from its original location near the Pioneers Bridge after an explosion that destroyed the bridge.

Jde o tank s číslem 051, který jako první v roce 1945 vjel do Ostravy.
Pěkný a dobře udržovaný pomník. Chodil jsem tu rád už jako dítě. Kus vojenské techniky je velké lákadlo.
The tank is directly opposite the Miloš Sýkora bridge and is aiming aimlessly somewhere above Ostrava.
It is a tank with the number 051, which was the first to enter Ostrava in 1945.
Nice and well maintained monument. I loved going here as a child. A piece of military equipment is a great attraction.
