Během husitských válek stáli Zajícové na katolické straně, roku 1424 husité v čele s Janem Žižkou Libochovice dobyli, město vypálili a před radnicí popravili čtyři duchovní a dva představitele města. Jan III. Roku 1882 zavedena železnice a roku 1912 založena sklárna.
According to garbage bins, bronze ornaments and other antique monuments found in the city and its proximity to digging foundations, it was proved that Libochovice had been inhabited already in ancient times. The first verified references to Libochovice date back to 1336, when Libochovice was marked as a "town covered with a fortress". At that time there was a parish church here. In 1314 this land was acquired by King Jan Lucemburský, who in 1336 gave the fort in Libochovice and the surrounding villages to Zbyněk Zajíc of Valdek.
During the Hussite wars the Zajíc family stood on the Catholic side, so in 1424 the Hussites, led by Jan Žižka conquered and fired Libochovice and executed four clerics and two city officials in front of the town hall. Jan III. Zajíc from Hazmburk received the privilege of an annual fair and weekly markets from King Vladislav Jagellon in 1507. In the years 1553-1564, the estate of Hazmburk was divided and dispersed. In 1606 Zikmund Báthory took possession of the town and the manor, and in 1610 Adam from Šternberk received Libochovice. In 1882 a railway and in 1912 a glass factory were established. In 1850 the city became the seat of the district court. Following the extinction of the male line of the Ditrichstein family in 1858, the Herberstein family took over the Chateau, in 1945 it was put under state control from Count Frederick of Herberstein.
Interesting facts: Near Libochovice the former town owners Zajíc family built awesome castle Hazmburk, whose ruin is today the dominant landscape element and Libochovice is one of good starting points to get there. A prominent Czech scientist and representative of the national revival Jan Evangelista Purkyně was born in Libochovice, his father used to be the administrator of the castle.
