R	Rob on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Most u Mostní brány známý též jako Americký most. - Nejstarší most u bývalé Mostní brány byl až do poloviny 20. století jediným mostem přes Ohři ve městě, který zajišťoval veškerý silniční provoz severním směrem k Františkovým Lázním a dále k hranici se Saskem a Bavorskem. V roce 1899 byl starý dřevěný, neustále opravovaný most nahrazen novým, moderním železným mostem a sloužil až do dubna 1945, kdy jej chebská domobrana vyhodila do vzduchu. Americkými ženisty vybudovaný provizorní dřevěný most byl při povodni na jaře roku 1947 poškozen a v dubnu zde ženijní vojenský útvar sestavil a vysunul přes řeku železnou konstrukci nového mostu. Přestože se jednalo o anglický ženijní most typu Bailey, byl až do roku 1988, nazýván mostem Americkým. Bridge at the Bridge Gate also known as the American Bridge. - Until the middle of the 20th century, the oldest bridge at the former Bridge Gate was the only bridge over the Ohře River in the town, which provided all road traffic to the north towards Františkovy Lázně and further to the border with Saxony and Bavaria. In 1899 the old wooden, constantly repaired bridge was replaced by a new, modern iron bridge and served until April 1945 when the Cheb militia threw it into the air. The makeshift wooden bridge built by American engineers was damaged during the flood in spring 1947 and in April the engineer military unit assembled and extended the iron structure of the new bridge across the river. Although it was the English Bailey Engineer Bridge, until 1988, it was called the American Bridge.
