Municipal Library of Prague, Opatov - Opatovská 1754/14

I have been coming here to borrow books for many years. There is a large selection of books and nice and very helpful library staff. And the library is big, so two people at one bookshelf can easily avoid it. And everything is clear here. They have a study room and internet connection.

It is beautiful when I hold in my hands books on art, philosophy, on spiritual directions, poetry, painting, or a book of photographs of landscapes loaded up to man's eyes from captured moments of the world, my eyes pass from beauty. And so, with the desire to create again, to paint and write my poems and to be filled with deep spiritual thoughts, or verses that uplift my soul in associations and paintings, I put the publication in a basket of precious pearls. How much a person finds here with a monograph of artists who created with vigor and joy, their statement constantly on the person in the expressed impressions, feelings, is captured in the books and so it is still somehow alive, even if only from the pages of paintings breathes on me. I like the smell of books, those books traditionally printed on paper in general, and although I have downloaded a few electronic books so far, I am still looking in vain for a relationship with them. They are lifeless to me, cold, too sterile. And so I prefer to reach into the shelves for those that rustle slightly under your hands when you turn the sides, just like the fallen leaves on the roads in autumn. I confess without torture that the bookworm is old and the new world has not addressed me yet, although it is harder for others to be what I am, although I sincerely try to understand him. What more can be said about the beautiful, quiet, light, airy space about this Opatov library? Perhaps also that if you can't find something yourself, the staff will be happy to give you a book (if they find it here, or even order it for you). And also here, as a bonus for the reproduction of paintings in frames, you can borrow in the Artotheque and turn your home into a small gallery. With this I will end my stream of words, the chanting that stems from my enthusiasm, my coloratura, which is small only from the gratitude written composition that such a library in the South City is here, so that like cakes when you see in a pastry shop you will see. This is my enticing in this invitation library.

What to write about the city library. At least this branch is becoming more and more contactless. I came here after a month and there is not only a loan, but also the return of unattended books. Which is a pleasant finding - one has at least a greater overview ... Now the employees are only here to babysit, sometimes they advise and collect fees or deposits ???

I am satisfied with the library and the selection of books. An interesting, simple and fast system for borrowing and returning books. Two things bothered me. If I search for a book on the Internet, I did not find anywhere in which department to look for it. Whether it's crime, fiction or fantasy. The only thing left on the spot is to ask the staff for help. The second thing is a big delay when ordering books that are at other branches. You will pay CZK 10 for the title with the information that it is being prepared immediately. However, the delivery took 6 days and another title was missing. The requested titles are in many pieces, yet the waiting time is disproportionately long. However, when choosing a title directly at the branch, everything is fine and the staff will be happy to help if necessary.

My favorite library. I'm just bothered by poor arrangements - I would classify novels for women in the alphabet and leave only detective stories and sci-fi and professional literature.

Well accessible city library with many services. There is a possibility to rent reproductions of images. The selection is really large and basically this service is free. You can change the images to customize the look of the apartment. But you can also have them at home for many years. Then all you have to do is bring them to the library once every few months and you can take them back home right away. I've been using it for many years.
