The origin of Doubice is unfortunately still associated with many questions and uncertainties for historians. It is certain that the beginnings of the topmost medieval settlement are associated with glass production. This is evidenced by the discovery of a medieval glassworks near Vápenka, made in 1995, and the findings of glass pans and glass ceramics on a meadow beneath a church dating from the 1970s. The existence of Doubice as a village is documented in writing until around the middle of the 16th century (the earliest known written record is from 1552). At that time, the base of the village, which stretched along the Doubický stream, was ten farmstead with a lot of fields, a number of houses, a sawmill, and above all the Meierhof farmhouse, whose land occupied most of the area of today's Doubice. This state remained essentially unchanged until the early 18th century. The original German population (the German name of the village was Daubitz) was displaced after 1945. Today, the village mainly serves to recreation. Nowadays, only around 100 inhabitants live here, so their number makes Doubice one of the smallest municipalities in Czech Republic.

At that time, the basis of the village, which stretched along the Doubický brook, formed ten farmsteads with rychta, to which belonged a strip of field, as well as several house buildings, a sawmill and especially the noble farmyard (Meierhof). Today the village serves mainly recreation. Today, only about a hundred people live here, so Doubice is one of the smallest independent municipalities in the Czech Republic.
