T. G. Masaryk spent the summer holidays with his family in Podštejn in 1883 and 1884. They were accommodated in the inn of František Sattran. He tried to relax here, but he also devoted himself to literary work, made trips to the surroundings, fishing in Divoka Orlice and attended numerous business and friendly meetings. From September 1938, his stay was reminiscent of a bronze bust created by Vincenc Makovský, originally located on the front of the "U Paďourů" inn, later on a pedestal in a nearby park. In 2007 it was stolen, then replaced by a new bust from the academic sculptor Vladimír Pešek, made of a resin cast imitating bronze material, but this bust was stolen again in 2010 and then replaced by a replica again. Pretty sad story about one of the greatest Czech persons...
