Radovesnice I se rozprostírají v členité krajině. Jejich dominantu tvoří areál zámku, který leží na kopci nad obcí. Zámek byl založen již v první polovině 18. století na místě bývalé tvrze. Okolo něj se rozprostírá rozlehlý park, jenž od vnějšího prostředí odděluje kamenná zeď. Tato nemovitá kulturní památka byla na základě restitucí vrácena potomkům posledních majitelů, rodině Fischerových. Nyní je objekt v majetku soukromé firmy a byla provedena jeho kompletní a rozsáhlá rekonstrukce, včetně úprav přilehlého parku.
Ves, jež se do konce 16. století jmenovala pouze Radovesice, byla založena pravděpodobně již ve 12. století. První písemná zmínka ji připomíná až v roce 1266, kdy zde měl sídlo vladyka Vícemil z Radovesic, po němž nesla své jméno. Počátkem 16. století ji získali Maternové z Květnice, kteří zde založili tvrz, písemně doloženou roku 1608.
V roce 1988 byla obec připojena jako městská část ke Kolínu, v jehož těsném sousedství se nachází, avšak již roku 1991 se opět osamostatnila.

The village, which was called Radovesice until the end of the 16th century, was probably founded in the 12th century. The first written mention of it dates back to 1266, when it was the seat of a member of the lower nobility Vícemil of Radovesice, after whom it was named. At the beginning of the 16th century it was acquired by the Materns of Květnice, who founded a fortress here, documented in 1608. In 1988, the village was annexed to Kolín as a municipal district, and in 1991 it became independent again. Today there are approximately 400 permanent inhabitants.
