The restaurant is known for being one, if not the oldest one in Plzeň. The food tasted great - I've got pork tenderloin (vepřová panenka). The portion was tiny, without any additional products you will not fill your stomach enough. The price for this amount of food is too high. The stuff seems to be friendly, they helped us to find the best seat in a big area of restaurant, though they are not interested in the feedback of the customers. That's why 3. Though the intervier is great.

Took my 'free beer' voucher after my underground tour of the Plzen Urquell Museum and chose this fabulous bar to sit and relax. A heavily wood panelled decor with plenty of seating, downstairs toilets and a garden area. Attentive English speaking staff, extensive menu and drinks choice. I felt relaxed just having a beer whilst people dined. I'd recommend to all to stop and give it a go, it's not overpriced and the beers don't disappoint.

Great location. The traditional food was very good especially the ribs. The sirloin was a little dry but the sirloin sauce was amazing. The waitress spoke English very well too. We also had some chicken (which wasn’t that great), green beans which was a good side dish. The goats cheese salad was also very tasty.

Seriously, the reputation is well-deserved. They have the best Halušky west from the Morava river. They also have very nice garden to sit. The place looks but sleepy.

One of the best restaurants in Plzen. Nice atmosphere, delicious food, friendly stuff. What else do you need?

I chose this restaurant by the recommendation of a polite receptionist met in a guided tour of the Pilsner Urquell factory. At U Salzmannů is possible to find excellent beers, but this is also possibile everywhere in Czech Rep. Every bar, every restaurant have it. We ordered 3 courses of typical bohemian cuisine. In two courses, food was not bad, in average. But one course, mine, had a wrong cooking. The pork roast was very dry and over cooked. It was woody. But the pleasant day in Plzeň was spoiled by the service of this place: Cold and far service. Superficial. No smiling, no asking. Particulary, a young waiter treated us very rudely and aggressively when we asked for the bill in English language: there was a misunderstanding and he understood "one beer". He served me a beer and when I pointed out to him we hadn't asked for "beer" but "the bill" he reacted very rudely because he had tapped a glass of beer. And even at a distance after he walked away he continued to murmur something bad. Just for a beer. Just for a misunderstanding!!! Or maybe because we were tourists and also foreigners!!! I pointed out the disreputable and aggressive behavior to his waiter's female colleague. This is no way to treat customers who bring you money and business. She apologized for this rude colleague. But she wasn't to blame. THE MANAGER is guilty. Who chooses the room staff have to understand the attitude of the workers. If waiters have kindness and if they know how to manage mistakes without losing control. We left, but all afternoon it was very annoying to remember this episode. I got in my car and ran away. The pleasant day in Plzeň was tainted with a disgusting ending. My advice is: stay away from this place!!!
