★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Důležitý cíl poutníků v Chřibech je spojen s cyrilometodějskou tradicí. Jeho význam vzrostl po roce 1205, kdy zde markrabě Vladislav Jindřich založil první cisterciácký klášter na Moravě. Jezuité koncem 19. století zřídili v areálu gymnázium a konvikt. V roce 1928 byl povýšen poutní chrám Nanebevzetí Panny Marie a sv. Cyrila a Metoděje na baziliku minor. Velehrad navštívil také papež Jan Pavel II., a to v roce 1990. Vrcholem červencové cyrilometodějské poutě bývá slavnostní mše za přítomnosti všech biskupů, jíž se pravidelně účastní několik desítek tisíc domácích i zahraničních věřících.
 An important destination for pilgrims in Chřiby is connected with the Cyril and Methodius tradition. Its importance increased after 1205, when Margrave Vladislav Jindřich founded the first Cistercian monastery in Moravia. At the end of the 19th century, the Jesuits established a grammar school and a dormitory in the complex. In 1928, the pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Cyril and Methodius to the Basilica Minor. Pope John Paul II also visited Velehrad in 1990. The culmination of the July Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage is a solemn mass in the presence of all bishops, which is regularly attended by tens of thousands of domestic and foreign believers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Krásné svaté místo. V bazilice určitě nevynechejte sarkofág otce Tomáše Špidlíka, je za oltářem a je vskutku mistrovským dílem. Doporučuji i expozici v podzemí, věnovanou mimo jiné mučedníkům 20. století. Jinak je to lapidárium, samý kámen. Expozice by mohla být lépe značená, pomalu jsme v podzemí zabloudili, v kryptách navíc není moc světla, tak si tam hůře vidící na infopanelech moc nepočtou.
Beautiful holy place. In the basilica, be sure not to miss the sarcophagus of Father Tomáš Špidlík, he is behind the altar and he is truly a masterpiece. I also recommend an exhibition in the underground, dedicated, among other things, to the martyrs of the 20th century. Otherwise, it's a lapidary, the stone itself. The exposition could be better marked, we slowly got lost in the underground, in addition there is not much light in the crypts, so they cannot count much worse on the info panels.

Vstupné 70,- Kč a lístek akčně platil i do blízkého muzea v Info centru na křižovatce (Google ho ani nezná).
Museum zajímavé pouze první přízemní patro a to jen z části, zbytek jsou příliš složité a podrobné pro ateistu nezajímavé věci.
WC v areálu musea stojí 20,- Kč,!!!
Ale když si prý něco date něco v jejich křesťanské kavárně/cukrárně za nekřesťanské ceny, tak budete mít zázrakem najednou wc zdarma. Budova a její obsah vybudován za státní a EU dotace... Tak takhle církev vydělává... :-(
An interesting place by spirit and place.
Admission CZK 70 and the ticket was valid for the nearby museum in the Info Center at the crossroads (Google does not even know it).
Museum interesting only the first ground floor and only in part, the rest are too complex and detailed things uninteresting for an atheist.
The toilet in the museum costs 20 CZK, !!!
But if they say something in their Christian cafe / pastry shop for non-Christian prices, you will suddenly have a free toilet. The building and its contents built for state and EU subsidies ... This is how the church earns ... :-(
