Roubenka

A unique family house in Prague in the style of a mountain lodge was built in 1921 for the director of the Kladno mines, Joseaf Janeček. It was designed by Maximilian Duchoslav, who built, for example, a functionalist substation in Bohdalec or the current Greek embassy in Ořechovka. The building is evidence of a significant conservative current of interwar architecture - a stylistic counterpoint to the prevailing functionalism of the time. The building is surrounded by a garden in a steeply rising terrain. The house has three living floors with approximately 20 rooms and a technical basement. An interesting feature is the cellar with an ideal climate, sunk into the slope and connected to the basement by a long corridor of oval cross-section. I walk up the Nusle stairs almost every Tuesday, on the way to my doctor. I prefer this walk on foot as it is a pleasant walk
