The mountain rises above the northern edge of the town to 510m above sea level. The name itself tells of its dark past. There were usually two executions in the cities. In Strakonice it was a gallows on Šibeničný vrch and shading. Za Stínadly location is located on the western outskirts of the city north of the road to Katowice. Here it was shaded by a sword according to period records in the 17th and 18th centuries. The exception was not breaking around, burning and burying alive. Gallows used to be wooden and brick. In Strakonice there was a stone, rectangular ground plan with dimensions of about 7 x 5 m and probably had four columns that were connected by beams to allow several convicts to be hanged at once. Even in 1933 there was a higher wall of granite stones, but it was later dismantled and removed. Today's remains reach only about 0.5 meters. Exercise of capital law in Strakonice is confirmed by the privileges of 1539, 1577, 1697 and 1722. This right ceased to exist in 1765. According to some sources, the gallows would later be relocated to Kání vrch on the eastern outskirts of the city. The preserved remains of a stone walled gallows at Šibeničný vrch were declared a cultural monument in 2006 and registered in the State List of Immovable Cultural Monuments.
