Pocházel z jihozápadních Čech. Ztělesnil v sobě ideál znalce Božích tajemství, který pilným studiem a kázní usiloval o mravní dokonalost.
V úřadě generálního vikáře věrně plnil povinnosti, hájil práva církve a její svobodu proti zvůli krále Václava IV. a zakusil za to od něj mnohá bezpráví.
Když po velkém trýznění a mučení pro svou věrnost povolání i mlčenlivost dodýchal, byl z Karlova mostu vhozen do řeky Vltavy.
Máme před sebou svědectví o jeho pevné vůli zaměřené na pravdu a spravedlnost.
Na silničním mostu v Rožmberku nad Vltavou stojí kovová socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého, která na něj byla přenesena z mostu staršího.
V letech 1931–32 zde byl vystavěn betonový most přes Vltavu, který zachoval obrysy původní stavby. Projekt vypracoval Dr. Ing. Z. Prošek, stavbu provedla pražská stavební firma Ing. C. Fantla. Dodnes se na něm unikátně dochovaly česko-německé litinové tabule s údaji o autorech a nosnosti mostu.

On the road bridge in Rožmberk nad Vltavou stands a metal statue of St. Jan Nepomucký, which was transferred to him from the bridge of the elders.
In the years 1931–32, a concrete bridge over the Vltava was built here, which preserved the outlines of the original building. The project was developed by Dr. Ing. Z. Prošek, the construction was carried out by the Prague construction company Ing. C. Fantla. To this day, Czech-German cast iron panels with information about the authors and the load-bearing capacity of the bridge have been uniquely preserved on it.
