★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As it occured finding a restaurant serving Czech classic/local cuisine in Hradec Kralove center is a little more if a challenge than in smaller towns. Which of course make sense. Still we wanted the 'local' food and were happy to finally find this one. The local is big, still quite cosy. It has this local taphouse feel we were looking for. They have their own beer either brewed there on site or for them in some local brewery, not sure about it, but anyway a great one. Especially the dark one fits the food perfectly. Solid garlic soup, very tasty duck and spare ribs to die for - perfectly seasoned and baked. Only the dumplings just ok: still decent but a little dry, and we simply had better already the other day.
The staff is friendly and seem genuinely happy to see you and serve you. This is as in many other places like that in Czechia, still is worth to be mentioned nonetheless! They speak English enough to communicate easy (though we are Polish so we probably won't need to switch to English anyway of course).
Definitely worth to visit for the local beer and aforementioned spare ribs - perfect combo!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want to eat a good Czech dinner, you must visit this place. The prices are not too high. Good meat (especially pork), vegetables and tasty sauces.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not the place to go if you're a foreigner. The employees just wanna scam you and they think you'll never notice. My friends and I were charged a total of 1000 kč extra for a "service fee". When we asked what this service fee was for, they said it was because the waiters spoke to us in English...even though we speak Czech and never requested for them to speak in the incredibly limited English they know. And no, they certainly won't tell you about the so called "service fee" when you enter the restaurant. Don't waste your time on poor service. I've lived in Hradec for a few months now and there are way better restaurants nearby that won't rob you. Terrible service. Such a shame.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a foreigner be careful. I speak Czech and they tried to speak English and we still spoke Czech. They then charged me and my group 50 Kč each amounting up to 1000 Kč for speaking English to us when we didn't want it. They didn't mention this fee at all. They scam without telling you and their English is not even good. It would be fine if they told us but they just tried to speak English when we literally speak Czech. Don't try this scam.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is great, the service and the "service fee" on the other hand are not. The group I was with and I have eaten here before and the staff knows that we speak English. The waitress walked up to our table and greeted us by saying "We don't have svičkova" and "Does everyone want kofola?". Other than that we communicated with her in Czech. At the end we all got charged and additional 50kč "service fee", after inquiring why they told us it was because they had to speak English to us. Everyone in the group is at least conversational in Czech and we didn't even ask them to speak English.
It is definitely a foreigners trap. If you a foreigner I would not recommend eating here. If you speak Czech insist that they speak with you in Czech so they don't make more money off of you too. The worst part is this happened twice in a row and the first time they wouldn't even tell us why!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This establishment has nice food, for a good price, but there are a few traps for foreigners. Me and my associates have eaten here twice, and although we have Czech speakers in the group, we were charged a 50 Kč service fee because "we needed English assistance". However, both times they did not tell us why we were being charged extra, and the second visit, the only English spoken was the first sentence of our server. This restaurant certainly has some sketchy practices for its customers... Foreigners beware!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is just a warning for all foreigners and tourists. They will charge you a service fee without your consent or awareness. The reasoning behind it was that they had to speak English ?. But my friends and I have been living in the Czech Republic for several months and know how to order food in Czech perfectly fine. They just came up to us and started speaking English to us so we thought nothing of it...apperrently that was something we had to pay for. Other than that the food wasn't bad. (This happened to us twice)
