Leider gibt es auch hier Idioten die keinen Respekt vor der Natur und dem "Denkmal" haben und meinen sie können sich alles erlauben. It is a great experience to stand in a volcanic crater and look at the different layers. Unfortunately there are also idiots here who have no respect for nature and the "monument" and think they can do anything.

Man folgt in Neualbenreuth vom Marktplatz aus zunächst der Turmstraße ortsauswärts und biegt nach ca 300m nach links in die Zollstraße ab, die bergauf zum Ortsausgang führt. Zwischen Feldern gelangt man schließlich an den Wanderübergang von Deutschland nach Tschechien. Zufuß gehts an einer Schutzhütte vorbei und nach ca. 50 m führt ein Hohlweg durch ein Wäldchen zum etwa 300m entfernten jüngsten Vulkan der Gegend, dem Eisenbühl. Der etwa 200 Mio. Jahre alte Aschekegel erlebte verschiedene Epochen in denen schwarze Schlacke- und andere Schichten abgelagert wurden. Am Ziel angekommen, befindet man sich in einem grasbewachsenen Areal, das vor allem gegen Norden hin von bis zu 10m hohen Schlackehalden umgeben ist. Es ist schon ein etwas merkwürdiges Gefühl, an einer Stelle zu stehen, an der einmal heißes Gestein und giftige Gase aus dem Boden drangen. Gehörige Brocken liegen versteut am Weg und im nahen Gebüsch ohne Spuren von Verwitterung zu zeigen, so als wären sie erst gestern dort hingeschleudert worden. An interesting place for those interested in geology, but also for people with a certain penchant for adventure. In Neualbenreuth, from the market square, you first follow Turmstrasse out of town and after about 300m turn left into Zollstrasse, which leads uphill to the exit of the town. Finally, between fields you come to the hiking crossing from Germany to the Czech Republic. On foot you pass a refuge and after about 50 m a ravine leads through a forest to the youngest volcano in the area, the Eisenbühl, about 300 m away. The ash cone, which is around 200 million years old, experienced different epochs in which black slag and other layers were deposited. When you arrive at your destination, you are in a grassy area that is surrounded, especially towards the north, by up to 10m high slag heaps. It is a bit strange to stand in a place where once hot rock and poisonous gases came out of the ground. Corresponding boulders are scattered along the path and in the nearby bushes without showing any signs of weathering, as if they had only been thrown there yesterday.
