Tohle místo mám rád, procházka je tu super v kteroukoliv roční dobu. Doporučuji udělat si dostatek času a prozkoumat širší okolí, než jen turistickou stezku.
I like this place, the walk is great at any time of the year. I recommend taking enough time and exploring the wider area than just a hiking trail.

Rock houses (Valečovské světničky) are located near the Valečov castle. This is a complex of 28 houses that are carved right into the sandy rocks. Presumably, the guard of the castle was located there. During the Hussite wars, the place served as a wintering place for troops, and already in the 18-19 centuries it became a haven for the poor. Residents began to be called "skalaki". At the end of the 19th century, 7 families lived here, about 30 people. In some houses food was stored, in others - pets, there were houses for baking bread, there was even a leather workshop. In 1982, under the pretext of impending cholera, with the help of gendarmes, all families were evicted. To make it impossible to return, the windows were knocked out, the doors and floors were demolished.

V roce 1892 došlo k násilnému vystěhování světniček a demolici těchto bytů.
Valečovské rock rooms are actually old rock "flats". They are part of the castle complex. In the time of Jan Žižka, they served as a fortified camp and winter quarters. The whole area was protected by poles inserted into the notches between the rocks. After leaving the castle at the beginning of the 18th century, the rock rooms became the home of the local poor. The floors were wooden, the windows were glazed (set in the rock) and the doors had to be adapted to the rocks. Most of these "dwellings" had a stove with a chimney, which was led out over the rocks. At the end of the 19th century. seven families of several lived here. In 1892, the rooms were forcibly evicted and these flats were demolished.

These cave dwellings, carved into the rocks, were a sort of fortified village linked to the nearby castle. The place, in the Middle Ages, was fortified with a wooden palisade. In past centuries, they have hosted soldiers, peasants, brigands and poor people. They give an idea of how difficult life was in the past. They are found in the rocks near those on which the castle stands.
