★ ★ ★ ★ ★ První knihovna byla založena v roce 1874, ve sbírkách tehdy měla kolem 1400 knih. Městská knihovna byla založena v roce 1945. V současné době má tři oddělení - pro dospělé, děti a hudební. Dnes spravuje kolem 90 000 knih, převážně v češtině, ale i v německém a lužickosrbském jazyce. Vyvíjí i vlastní publikační činnost a pořádá soutěž Literární Varnsdorf. V roce 2009 se přestěhovala do rekonstruovaného Městského centra kultury a vzdělávání, kde je i Městské informační středisko. Chodba knihovny ve druhém patře slouží k výstavám výtvarných děl.
The first library was founded in 1874, at the time it had about 1400 books in its collections. The Municipal Library was founded in 1945. It currently has three departments - for adults, children and music section. Today it administers about 90,000 books, mostly in Czech, but also in German and Lusatian-Sorbian. It also develops his own publishing activities and organizes the "Literary Varnsdorf" competition. In 2009 it was moved to the reconstructed Municipal Center of Culture and Education, which also houses the Municipal Information Center. The hallway of the library on the second floor is used for exhibitions of art.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ V jedné budově naleznete všechna oddělení, včetně skladu. Knih je tu dost a funguje tu meziknihovní výpůjčka. Pracovnice jsou příjemné a ochotné poradit a pomoci při hledání konkrétních publikací. V budově je čisto a klid.
In one building you will find all the departments, including the warehouse. There are plenty of books and interlibrary loans. The workers are pleasant and willing to advise and help in finding specific publications. The building is clean and quiet.
