Houska Castle was built on the site of an originally wooden, later stone fortified settlement (end of the 9th century), which the Duke of Pšovany, Slavibor, founded for his son Housek. It is interesting that to this day we do not know exactly why someone decided to build the castle. The terrain was impenetrable at the time, off the beaten track. Today, the whole area around the castle is not only easily accessible, but also offers you beautiful views. In good weather, you can also see Mount Říp from the viewpoint at Houska. I was not so lucky, yet the view was impressive. The place is open to the west, you can see the neighboring village of Tubož and a short distance from it Tubožský dvůr. Castle Houska was built in the place of originally wooden, later stone fortified settlement (end of the 9th century), which the Duke of Slavonic founded for his son Housek (hence the name). Interestingly, we still do not know exactly why anyone decided to build the castle. The terrain was impenetrable at that time, outside the trade routes. Nowadays, the entire area of ​​the castle is not only easy to access, but also offers beautiful views. From the viewpoint of Houska, you can also see Říp mountain in good weather. I did not have such luck, but the look was impressive anyway. The site is open to the west, and you can see the neighboring village Tubož and neighboring Tubožský courtyard.
