Castle Houska was built in the place of originally wooden, later stone fortified settlement (end of the 9th century), which the Duke of Slavonic founded for his son Housek (hence the name). Interestingly, we still do not know exactly why anyone decided to build the castle. The terrain was impenetrable at that time, outside the trade routes. Nowadays, the entire area of the castle is not only easy to access, but also offers beautiful views. From the viewpoint of Houska, you can also see Říp mountain in good weather. I did not have such luck, but the look was impressive anyway. The site is open to the west, and you can see the neighboring village Tubož and neighbouring Tubožský courtyard.
