★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kolem roku 1850 žilo v Lošticích 483 obyvatel židovského vyznání (17 % z celkového množství). To bylo historicky nejvíce. Pak už se jejich počet jen a jen snižoval. Dokonce tak, že po druhé světové válce se z koncentráku vrátili jen tři.
Měnící se počet židovských obyvatel města přímo korespondoval se stavem synagogy. Stav budovy se neustále zhoršoval, až po 2. světové válce byla definitivně uzavřena. Po mnoha peripetiích nakonec došlo k dohodě a v budově je od roku 2014 muzeum.
