Židovské osídlení v Novém Strašecí je doloženo od počátku 17. století. Původní hřbitov o rozloze 545 metrů čtverečních byl založen v roce 1650 téměř v centru města v blízkosti synagogy. Byl užíván do založení nového hřbitova v polovině 19. století. V roce 1952 byl zlikvidován a přestěhován na jižní okraj města, u cesty směrem na Pecínov.
