Název uličky vychází z faktu, že domy na západní straně jsou za sebou postaveny tak, aby každý další byl posunut o jednu okenní osu blíž do ulice. Ulička se tím rychle zužuje a stáčí, a domy působí dojmem zvědavosti svých obyvatel, kteří chtějí pozorovat dění na tehdejší hlavní třídě. Zvědavá ulička leží asi 200 m od náměstí a asi stejně tak daleko od zámku Jilemnice. Kromě krásných lidových domů zde najdete také sochu sv. Jana Nepomuckého a součástí Zvědavé uličky je i roubený Šaldův statek, který je umístěn na spodní části uličky nejblíže náměstí a kde dnes najdete stylovou restauraci. The curious alley represents an excellent set of folk architecture, built mostly after the great fire of the city in 1788.
