★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall an underwhelming experience. It is not really Spa in the sense that I understand it. The building is very old, which is in itself not a huge problem. It is very clean, but unfortunately not really comfortable and welcoming at all. It has a very clinical flair which ruins the whole atmosphere. Additionally, the staff is a bit cold and not very service oriented. For example, there is absolutely no explanation of the procedures or the process in general. The swimming area is only 4 small pools without any decoration. The tiling on the wall has seen better days etc. Not worth a recommendation!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Elizabeth Bath is one of the most beautiful architectonical historical buildings. It is situated in the centre of the town and surrounded by a calm historical park with sparkling fountain in its middle.
The Elizabeth Baths were established in 1906 and named after the Empress Elizabeth, known as Sissi. This representative building served to spa purposes from the very beginning. It continues a very successful and long spa tradition in the heart of Europe even today.
Elizabeth Bath can offer the largest range of the spa treatments including some news. It uses natural curative sources of the Carlsbad region. It offers a range of rehabilitation treatments and, at present very popular relax, beauty and wellness treatments. Elizabeth Baths is the biggest consumer of the hot mineral water in the town (20% of the total quantity).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is a swimming pool open for public (not only for hotel guests) for reasonable price. They have very high hygiene standards, that are sometimes slightly absurd ( like showering twice before sauna or showering after sauna before entering pool with ice cold water).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A shame !!
We have been to the swimming pool with my boyfriend at 6.30pm. We stayed less than an hour. Everything was great, exept the moment when we realized that somebody stole all the money of my boyfriend (which was in his locker, locked). Of course, the baths were closed when we realised that.
The swimming was almost empty. The only person who saw the money in my boyfriend's purse was the young woman who sells the tickets at the entrance of the swimming pool. I guess she also have a double of the lockers keys.
Anyway, what I mean is that it is a shame to take advantage of tourists.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good. There are signs everywhere to show you to the pool in the building. There is another entrance in the back of the building if you don't want to come in through the main entrance of the bath. The men and women have different dress rooms. The sauna, rest room, cold pool and steam room are different for men and women and are in the hall after the dress rooms. Have in mind that you need to take towels and flip-flops if you want, they do not give you. You neeed to bring with you shower gel, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc., because you have to take a shower before you go in the swimming pool area. Also have in mind that in the sauna you need to be completely naked - it's not for the shy. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and whirlpool bath and children's wadding pool are common. There are WC everywhere: in the dressing rooms, in the showers, in the halls etc , so don't worry if you need one. And look out for your key! It's very important! Do not lose it, or you have to pay it! Someone may take it by mistake, like it's happened to me. I got lucky and the woman next to me saw who took my key and when I asked her for help, she was capable to find it in a little girl(she couldn't read and thought it was her mom's key). It's very clear, there are hairdryers and hangers. And don't forget to bring a bag for the wet swim wear like me :-). You can't visit Karlovy vary and don't go to "Lazne" even if it's just once. Enjoy!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Only thermal bath/public pool open in the entire inner city, most of the others visible on the map are either more expensive or entry is restricted.
It's nothing like one's at Budapest, where public thermal baths are defaulted with mineral baths. In this one, you need to pre-book mineral baths which is a tub of mineral bath prepared only for 1 person. If you don't pre-book you can skip this attraction.
Personally, a very big disappointment because the city is called spa city, but if you understand it.. It means "book a good hotel and only then it's a spa city". For budget trips, it's just a normal European town with some thermal fountains. :(
