Barokní špitál

The Baroque building of the former hospital in the Žatec suburb is a remnant of the town's sanitary facilities, which has been operating here since 1437. The building was built in 1695-1698 according to the project of Antonia della Porty (1630-1702), managed by Ludvík Neumayer. The city provided accommodation for its poor in the hospital. In the period 1481-1834, the chapel of St. Mary Magdalene stood next to the hospital towards the river Ohře. Today, the hospital has been renovated and features a hotel, restaurant, sauna, bar with fireplace, congress hall, several lounges and a mini golf room. There is a vegetarian restaurant. But it's more of a buffet than a restaurant. You take a tray, get what you want, and then pay for it by weight. The water you have free have there jugs. It's fine but rather it's a dining room.

The hospital building was built in 1692-98. The hospital performed its function in the 19th century, later it became a residential house. It was abandoned after 1945, yet it survived the liquidation of the Žatec suburb (Lázně) at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s and is thus the only "non-sacral" building that has survived here. After 1990, it was converted into a luxury hotel.

Very good building, it doesn't look like a "hospital" at all. But besides that, I am always attracted by the background of the "volcanoes" of the Bohemian Central Mountains. That's beautiful!
