Interestingly, but it won't. So far in a desolate state, the reconstruction is in progress, but it is not clear what it will be after the reconstruction.

Very interesting monument that is currently undergoing well-deserved reconstruction. The last preserved charcoal blast furnace in Central Europe

The charcoal blast furnace Barbora was founded by Rudolf Count of Vrbno. The construction was started on 10th July 1805 and was put into operation in 1810. The specialization of the smelter was making of cast iron tubes. But there were also made machine parts and iron for mills. It was in operation until 1874. In the following years a sawmill was established there and the premises were closed. At present the building is in private property, unfortunately it is not used and the surrounding land serves as a training ground. It is still a beautiful and remarkable building!

The charcoal blast furnace, which was used for the processing of iron ore in the years 1810 - 1874. Her specialization was the production of cast iron pipes. It is an exceptional technical monument of European importance. The building is now undergoing repairs. Unfortunately, it is on private property and therefore only for viewing from a distance.

The late Baroque high charcoal kiln was built in 1810 by Count Rudolf Vrbná. It focused mainly on the casting of cast iron pipes, and also produced machine parts, cannon and cast iron balls, dishes or stoves.
After the depletion of small ore reserves and due to the impossibility of competition with modern metallurgy, the operation of the smelter ended in 1874. In 1886, a sawmill was established in the area, which operated until 1951. In the following years, the building served as a warehouse for an agricultural cooperative. At present, the area of the smelter is managed by the municipality of Jince, which has started the reconstruction of the building, and in the future there could be a museum and various cultural events.
