Brno Public Transport is actually awesome. The tram system is 10x better than it is in Toronto. My problem is with the DMPB office and ID BRNO. First of all, this place is quite confusing for foreigners and they don't make it any easier for you. When I went to get my bus pass, I tried to get a contactless card using ID BRNO. I paid for it. Then, when I got to the actual office, they urged us to line up to get a paper bus pass. There was a huge mix up, and I ended up getting a paper bus pass. The lady I was dealing with told me it wasn't a big deal and my contactless card did not work. I emailed them numerous times, then finding out it was the wrong email. I went to DPMB office, 2-3rd floor and dealt with someone at ID BRNO. He was okay at first, but then only offered me $16 refund (when I accidentally paid $80). He started to be very rude to me, using personal insults. He told me I was irresponsible, incompetent and incapable (in his own words). He was raising his voice at me and clearly had no care for customer service. He was extremely unprofessional and rude. I do believe he deserves severe punishment for the way he dealt with me and I hope he doesn't deal with other customers that way. The lack of customer service I have faced here is why Brno Public Transit will not receive 5 stars from me. My advice is to just get a paper card, OR, pay for the contactless card and go straight to the 2-3rd floor of the office for assistance. Try and be as quick as possible, the people here don't care for you and clearly think they're above you.

My transport card expired on Sunday. So, the next day I was going to recharge it (transport office is closed on Sundays). The same Sunday I took the tram to go supermarket and two revisers ask me for the card. I explained the situation, I thought that was not a reason for a penalty fee. I was wrong. Not only they gave me a penalty fee (1500crowns) moreover, the remove my card with my photo and plastic protector. Worst experience in a public transport.

Brno have one of the best public transport system. This cost many efforts to the staff to keep it in that condition. Not so sure is it government, or private owned, but based on my experience I am thinking that is government property. Private owners usually do not care so much as they expect only profit, without investment.

Everything is in Czech language, so be prepared to feel frustrated even though there was only one person in the information office speaking English. When at the counter, the lady didn't speak English apart from some dispersed words. She was kind enough to write a text message on Google translator explaining terms and conditions.

Terrible place if you don't speak Czech. A lady was yelling at me when I took some friends to request monthly ticket, because she did a mistake and needed the ticket back and I could not understand what she was asking for. She started to make bad comments about us to the locals who were in the queue, who started laughing. I could understand what was going on because because a Czech lady from the queue came to help me and explain what was going on.

Mixed experience. There is a 70% chance of facing a language problem as most of the employees speak only Czech. Better write down the details on a paper before you go to counter. It's very easy to reach this office. You can to right side of GRAND HOTEL Brno, through the road side and turn to the first left and you see the DPMB building. Get in take a token (press the first option for general public- this is written in Czech ;-) again) and go to counter when your number is displayed on screen. You can buy all kind of tickets, 1 month, 3 month 1 year common tickets for bus, tram and train.

I had a lady who couldn’t speak English but she used google translate from her phone to help me out and served with smile and patience during the whole conversation. Highly appreciate her. Great amazing customer support. Please raise the wage to the lady coz she deserves it beside she was in late 40s’ I believe. Hats off to her.
