The school is not very nice, it is too expansive and a quality of living here is low. Living in a small room with 3 other girls, when there is not even enough air to breathe won’t cost that much

We had our 13 years old son there for 2 weeks in the summer camp . The website and the description has pleased us so we thought our son would have two weeks of fun and 2 great weeks in which he may learn english. Before we booked him into Carlsbad summer camp I made sure that it is the right camp for english "newcomer", as his english is not so practiced. They told me it was no problem, they would teach each child individually. I was happy having found the right summercamp for my son and so I expectetd just the best of the best. The school, the other buildings and the rooms looked great, clean and we were told that the children will be looked after around the clock and they will take best care of them. We expected in such an exclusive surounding (price: one week €895,-) the best treatment, the best care and the best education ( my son chose one week film, the second week english). After two days I had a very dissapointed son ringing me, he told me he would not understand what the teachers are telling him, as his english is not as good. So I phoned the school, asked them if they could help my son to understand the film teacher or ask him if he could speak a bit slower. I made sure that the course we had booked were right for english-beginners and I told the manageress that he has difficulties as his english is not his mother language. They said I should wait a few more days and if he feels frustrated he can change into the english courses. A few days later, the group made a trip to Prague ( one of the afternoon excursions), my son was phoning me and told me he is now in Prague in an shopping center...I was a bit surprised after he told me that they were left alone and that they would meet each other in about three hours before they drive back to the summercamp. The same evening I had my son on the telephone again. He told me how his day in Prague was and that two sommercamp boys had an argument with him...ok thats normal amoung teenagers I thought...but after he mentioned the knives I became keen of hearing....a silly argument because of a frisbee disc which my son did not want to share with two other boys...the boys who had bought souvenir knives in Prague started to threaten him with their knives telling him "we will kill you if you don´t give us the frisbee disc"....I WAS UPSET and asked....AND WHERE WAS THE SUPERVISOR?...After this argument my son gave them the frisbee disc and went to the supervisor...this guy did not react adequate, or better he did not do anything....after this happening I phoned him and sent an email to the headmaster of school and leader of summercamp...I wrote them that I am really worried about my son and that I won´t accept silly games of uneducated children. I also wrote them that I will pick up my son if this or something similiar happens again....They wrote me back that they had contacted the parents of the boys and that they had a word with all of them and that they dont accept things like this. So it was ok for me and we hoped for a better second camp week. The second week my son had booked english courses to improve his english. Today we took him home...summary: I could have given him to a normal camp he would have learned the same or even more, I thought he will be in a safe surounding with lots of fun, I payed over €1700,- for two weeks of stress with just a bit of fun without the exclusive and best treatment I expected....so just 1 star....I think this school was build up a bit to fast, I big bubble....wants to appear exclusive and elitist...in real a normal Czech school with a bit of international flair...not more!

First of all, my fried has been studying here for two years and her mental state was completely destroyed by boarding "caring" at CIS. Second of all, this school is considers themselves as an International School. For real, this school didn't accredite by the Council of International Schools. So, their diploma actually means nothing. In the conclusion, I'd say that they are really not ready to be a premium boarding school. Probably, in the couple of years they'll better, but definitely not now.

I'm a student currently studying at this school, and have also been to it's summer camp. First off, I would like to say that the teachers at this school are the best that I have ever had. I have been to many International schools all around the world, ranging from India to South Korea, and ALL of the teachers at this school are amazing, and very helping. They really care about the students here. The facilities at this school are also really good. Although the campus is small, there is access to tennis, badminton, basketball, archery, air rifle, cooking and many, many more. This school also has THE BEST food of any school ever. I can't imagine any school with food better than here. It's bette than many restaurants i've been to. :D

My nephew recently graduated from CIS. Although there’s always room for improvement, this was a very pleasant and safe environment, where he grew both as a person and student. He met people from all over the world with different cultures, had to deal with new situations living alone for the first time, studied hard when necessary, played several sports, and even learned new a language. Some of his teachers were not just that but also mentors in a way. Ultimately I believe that what defines a boarding school experience the most, is the student’s own personality and traits as well as the choices he/she makes during this time, based on the possibilities and opportunities that the school can offer. Overall, he (and we) had a good, enriching experience with CIS and for this we are grateful.

Carlsbad International School (CIS) provided a high level learning experience with family style boarding. Our daughter is a better person academically and emotionally having graduated from CIS. CIS' International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is rigorous. It was appropriately challenging and prepared her for University and beyond. She has made life-long friends from around the world by attending CIS.The staff was amazing! Over her three years at the school, she certainly had conflict with others. She was supported by teachers, dorm staff, and fellow students. This helped her learn to deal with conflict constructively. She has a healthier approach to others because of this experience. To top all of this off, the campus is gorgeous in a picturesque, safe part of the world. From this central Europe location, they had significant travel opportunities. Through these visits, she learned history and customs from many cultures. We consider ourselves blessed to have had our daughter be a part of CIS.
