It's an abandoned old castle. Good place for taking some photos, for example your wedding.

The beginnings of its history date back to the 11th century, after 1041, when a border castle was built on the site of today's chateau. In 1534 the estate was bought by brothers from Žerotín who rebuilt it in a Renaissance style. The chateau got the present appearance at the beginning of the 19th century when the Liechtenstein built the Lednice-Valtice area, one of the largest artificial landscapes (143 km²) in Europe. Between the 17th and 20th centuries the ruling dukes of Liechtenstein transformed their domains in southern Moravia into a striking landscape. It married Baroque architecture (mainly the work of Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach) and the classical and neo-Gothic style of the castles of Lednice and Valtice with countryside fashioned according to English romantic principles of landscape architecture. After the World War II rearrangements, it became property of the Czechoslovak state and nowadays it is under the administration of Břeclav. The considerably dilapidated building is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction. The monument is located in the center of the city witch has bus and train connections. You can get to the monument by following the yellow and green tourist signs. Parking is free of charge by the supermarket. Currently only the visit of the castle's tower is accessible. — QV5G+XG Břeclav ??CZECHIA

Unfortunately this castle has been left to ruin and now it's totally destroyed inside. The only open bit is the tower with a nice view of Břeclav. During the archeological research recently a big discovery was made of a wooden wall of the original castle. Hopefully some restoration project will be started soon to save the castle.

We visited the castle and climbed the tower. The outlook from the tower provided us with a view over large areas of the Czech Republic and Austria. The building needs renovation and massive funding. Maybe the Liechtenstein family could provide some support after all it is one of the Liechtenstein family previously owned castles? Maybe the 300 anniversary of the Liechtenstein could be an excuse for some generosity.
