★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a beautiful Gothic castle and fortress located in South Bohemian region. This castle is also called “the king of Czech castles”. You can get there by car or by boat from Orlik castle (one way trip by boat from Orlik takes 45 min). The scenery is fascinating, fortress is located on the hill above the river (actually, above two rivers, in the junction of the Vltava and Otava rivers). Nature is very beautiful. The green landscapes around the castle area are breathtaking. There is a cafe in the fortress and a souvenir shop with a lot of handmade products.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Noncommented tour, short text description in every room, partially museum with small artefacts. Beautiful view from several places. Souvenirs. Good parking cca 10 minutes from castle or you can arrive by a bus. Refreshments in the castle or at a parking lot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome castle on the river confluence (looks like its situated on a peninsula). Beautiful views from castle on river. Quite a lot people but no crowds. Visit is without guide - you only get a text. Carpark is nearby the castle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice ruine of a once important castle. You pay for parking, then comes the food corner, then come some strange market sellers selling china junk and the comes the castle! There are toilets and snackbar IN the castle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zvíkov is a castle above the Orlík reservoir at the confluence of the Vltava and Otava rivers in the Písek district. It stands on a rocky watchtower about one kilometer north of the village of Zvíkovské Podhradí at an altitude of 370 m. It is open to the public. Zvíkov can be reached with the help of a steamer, which is moored under the castle Orlik and sails several times a day in the direction of Zvikov and back. you can also visit the castle Zvikov from the land, which, however, is not such a great experience and you can not see all its beauty, which is absolutely indescribable from the surface of the reservoir

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great place to visit and spend the day. Walk around, do your own thing or pay to get inside the castle. There is a place to eat and have a snack, ice cream or coffee right on castle grounds. You can also board a ferry boat and do a boat tour right from the dock at the castle. Check times for this upon arrival or online.
