Nice and well-groomed cemetery. Interesting is the board with important citizens.

The cemetery in Klatovy is quite large, well maintained, there is a parking lot in the upper part, but the access for citizens who move poorly is quite bad from the lower gate. We needed to find one grave, we only knew the name, so I called the Cemetery Administration and Mrs. readily found it, even described in which part is located and the grave number.

Cemetery U sv. James has almost a thousand-year history. Once upon a time there was a Slavic market village called Rybníčky. A Romanesque rotunda of St. George and later near it. James (1st half of the 13th century). Both buildings were destroyed in 1783 by an explosion of gunpowder, which was stored in the crypt of the then abolished church. Vojtěch. In 1380 a third church was built in the cemetery grounds, dedicated to St. Michalu. The originally Gothic building was rebuilt during the Baroque period. The church survived the explosion of gunpowder in 1783 without much damage and has been preserved in its Baroque form to this day. The cemetery, due to its location outside the city area, began to grow in the mid-19th century. You can enter its space through the neo-Baroque gate above Plzeňská Street, which was built in 1904. To the left of the entrance are some of the oldest tombstones of the cemetery. There are a total of 8 valuable tombstones by the cemetery wall, which were placed around the middle of the 19th century. A number of larger and more exhibited tombs are also worth noting. Communication with the cemetery administration is poor.
