Až do poloviny 19. Until the mid-19th century, the city practiced various anti-Jewish measures, and therefore the Jewish community was very small. Jewish inhabitants began to settle in Klatovy from the second half of the 19th century in connection with Josephine reforms and industrial development. In 1892 there were 532 Jews in Klatovy. The cemetery was founded between 1871 - 1872. 436 graves have been preserved on it - on a large number of tombstones the names of victims of Nazi liquidation in the Auschwitz concentration camp are listed. The cemetery was used until the 1960s. The ceremonial hall and the gravedigger's house from the time of foundation of the cemetery were demolished. The building is protected as a national cultural monument and is no longer used for burying. The area is locked, the key can be borrowed in the tourist information center at the Klatovy town hall.

Hrozné osudy mnohdy celých rodin k přečtení na některých náhrobcích.
The terrible fates of entire families to read on some tombstones.

Sad but quiet place with atmosphere, the only pity that the key is available elsewhere in the center, so you only need to look from the outside or climb the wall. It would be better to allow entry at some reasonable hours, as is the case in other Jewish cemeteries.
